A leisurely drive through the Driftless Region is the ultimate way to soak in the fall colors. Take Highway 33 from La Crosse to Ontario, passing through rolling hills, valleys, and charming towns like Cashton. This scenic route is ideal for a weekend family road trip, with stops for photos and hot cocoa.

8. Attend a Local Football Game

For a taste of small-town pride, nothing beats attending a high school football game under the Friday night lights. Cheer on the home team with your family, enjoy hot cocoa in the stands, and relish in the community spirit.

9. Let's Go Fish

Fall is the perfect time to take the kids fishing at local spots like Veteran's Park (La Crosse County) or Jersey Valley Lake (Vernon County). With cooler temperatures and less crowded waters, it’s an ideal family activity to teach the little ones how to cast, reel in, and enjoy the peaceful beauty of nature. Don't forget to bring snacks and enjoy a simple, relaxing day by the water.

As the days get shorter and the air cooler, the region bursts into a kaleidoscope of colors, perfect for outdoor exploration and family memories. Whether you’re picking apples or hiking through the hills, there’s no shortage of ways to embrace the magic of fall here in Wisconsin. Happy trails!
